I jinxed myself!!

I had to open my big mouth on how well Rylen slept the other night and guess what happened?
He woke crying up every hour to hour and a half!!!
It was a very long night for both of us so I finally gave in and brought him to bed around 5am. He went down really easy tonight since he was really tired so hopefully it will not be a repeat of last night.

So far, so good

I don't want to jinx it but putting Rylen to bed last night went well. He actually slept for 5hrs straight and then the rest of the night it was every 2hrs. I have also cut his feeding back at night. Instead of letting him nurse until he is passed out I will take him off before hand.
Hopefully things will go well tonight.

Oh, what a night!

Where do I start... Thank goodness Andrew was starting his night shifts last night otherwise I probably would be pulling my hair out or passed out any place other then my bed. Rylen use to be a great sleeper at night. He would sleep anywhere from 3-8hrs at a time but things have changed. The past few days he wakes up crying after 1-1 1/2hrs. Sometimes we let him cry it out but he gets so hysterical and has tears pouring down his checks we give in. If we pick him up he will snuggle right up and go right back to sleep but as soon as we put him back in his crib he wakes up crying again. We have tried using a sleep therapy machine (white noise), putting warmer or cooler clothes on him or keeping him up later but nothing seems to work.
Andrew is on night shifts for the next 2weeks so its up to me. If anyone has any tips on how to get him to sleep through the night, to have less feedings at night and to want to sleep in his crib I am all ears!!!!

Hungry Boy

Last month we tried out pablum with Rylen and he was doing well with it but after doing a bit more research we felt that he wasn't ready. He did open his mouth for the food but he still had the sucking motion, he would spit half of the food out and we were also told never force him to eat otherwise it will turn him off of food for awhile.
A few days ago we decided to try food again but instead of going back to pablum we went straight to the pureed veggies.
Having been told that the best one to start them off with was sweet potato we gave it a try. Rylen gave us all the signs that he was ready for food. He opened his mouth all the way and got very excited when the spoon was coming his way. He also kept it all in his mouth. We started him off at only a few tablespoons of food but when we went for our dinner date and left him with his Auntie Simone she gave him an entire jar of food. I guess he was that hungry! I even fed him before we left. We then found out that she gave him some baby cookies which he seemed to love. Every time she took it away from him he would kick up a fuss.
Needless to say he slept for most of the night after that but...
NO MORE BABY COOKIES!!!!!

Happy Anniversary!

Andrew and I just had our 2nd yr anniversary and for the first time since Rylen was born we got to enjoy some much need time to ourselves on our first date.
Andrew surprised me with a nice romantic dinner.
I have to admit, I was worried at first about leaving Rylen with someone but I got over it quickly.

Summer time

This was Rylen's first time playing in the grass. As soon as we put him on the blanket he rolled over and went straight for the grass.

Happy 5months Rylen!

To show off how big he is getting Rylen wanted everyone to see that he can sit up by himself (only for a few seconds though).
He is also starting to wiggle his way across the floor. Before we know it he will be crawling all over the house!
