Some how Rylen managed to get past the baby gate and get into the cat food. Andrew found him playing in the water and eating some of the food.

Crawling!!!!

That's right, Rylen is finally crawling. When Rylen watches his Baby Einstein video and he always goes over to stand at the fireplace to watch it. Well last night all of a sudden he starts crawling over to the fireplace! Ya!!!

Its a good thing that I have the camera attached to my hip!

Rylen has found a new sound...OINK, OINK, OINK!

He started doing this last night and both Andrew and were wondering where it came from. He said that it comes from me but honestly, I think he might be right.

Cat Fight!

Snickers our older cat has been very patient with Rylen from the beginning and she was the one that would actually sleep at his feet. Every time Rylen would come up to her and crawl over her or pull her hair she would put up with it for a bit and then walk away.
But not this time!
Rylen found her sleeping in our closet on the weekend. He figured out how to climb up into it and then made his way over to the cat. After bugging her for a few seconds (each time I said "no" and pulled him away) Snickers decided to teach him a lesson and fight back. She took 2 good swipes at him.
He sat there in shock for a second and then came the tears. I though she had scratched his hand but when Rylen turned to me for comfort I saw blood dripping from his nose.
The cat scratched him on the nose, in the corner of the eye and down his eye lid. He's very lucky that she never got his eye! Andrew and I both agreed that Snickers had every right to warn him but she did get a very firm "no" and a little smack on the paw.
After all that Rylen never learnt his lesson. Once the tears had stopped I put him back down and he went right back to Snickers.

Rylen's Christmas Stocking

I have been on the hunt for Rylen's Christmas stocking for the past few weeks and I was hoping to get one at a craft fair since they are usually different and unique but I haven't had any luck. We were at Walmart yesterday when I showed Rylen this stocking and after letting him hold it he wouldn't give it back.

All about the mess

I was trying to make dinner tonight when Rylen kept bugging me so I decided that the best way to occupy him was to let him make a mess. Since he is always going after the cats water dish I decided to give him his very own bowl of water. Lets just say he was soaked and so was the floor but I have a very happy boy afterwards!

Face Plant = Fat Lip

We headed out to Prince Rupert yesterday to do little Christmas shopping when we had a little accident with Rylen. He fell off of a chair and landed right on his face. The tooth on the left started bleeding everywhere but after 5minutes we got it to stop as well as all of the tears. However he did end up with a big fat lip!

Baby Proofing 101

After Rylen has made a few contacts with his mouth and the fireplace we decided that we better start baby proofing things around the house. We bought some foam that is specifically for baby proofing the edges but we found that it wouldn't stick to the fireplace so we came up with this idea. Its not the best looking but if it saves Rylen from getting hurt that's all that matters.
We bought carpet tape since we figured that it would be the strongest and stick the best.

Then we purchased foam sheets at the craft store and cut them up into strips.

Voila! A soft foamy edge to help save Rylen from hurting himself.

Trying to unload the dishwasher was fun this morning as Rylen found something new to play with. As I went to put some dishes away I came back to find him standing in the dishwasher!

After trying to catch Rylen all day on film yesterday this is the only video that I could get. He's not "clucking" but its better then nothing.

Clap, clap, clap!!

Rylen was having a bath last night (as you can tell by the pictures) and he realized that he could clap!! Ya!!!!!!
When I showed him my excitement he was all to happy to do it again. Once he got the hang of it he wouldn't stop and the funny part is that he copies you saying "clap,clap,clap" but he sounds more like a chicken and says "cluck,cluck,cluck!"
When I went to turn my camera on video I noticed that it wouldn't take anymore pictures unless I downloaded the pictures that were stored on there. All last night and today I have been trying to film Rylen clapping but every time I get the camera out he stops and smiles. I guess my mission for the week is to catch him on film.
