Birthday cake ideas

Our first choice was to get a Noah's Ark cake for Rylen's birthday. This is the only birthday that he is still a baby and we wanted something not to baby-ish but not to big boy either. I was going to attempt to make the cake myself but knowing me I would be stressing out way to much like I always do!!! I found a lady in town that makes cakes but to have the Noah's Ark cake made it would have cost to much money. The second runner up is the Alligator cake.

We must admit, we laughed when we saw the lizard hanging out of his mouth.

Rylen is our little monkey so another choice would be to have a monkey cake. We still have a few more weeks to decided so if anyone has any ideas, let us know!!

OMG!! warning: a little gross!!

Rylen got into my purse tonight and guess what I found him playing with? A tampon!
He chewed the wrapper off and was playing with the string.

If its not the kitchen then its the... (video)

Who let him in the kitchen AGAIN?!

His favourite drawer seems to be where all of the baking stuff is- go figure! I always find him sitting in front of it with the bottle of vanilla in his mouth!
Breadcrumbs...YUM!!

His favourite thing to do in the kitchen

This would be his favourite cupboard!

Iinstead of cleaning up the mess and putting things back where they belong, I throw everything back in the cupboard shut the door and walk away.

Rylen pulls out every drawer and cupboard in the kitchen. Within 5 minutes every pan, box, package and container is all over the floor.

Bad night

Last night Rylen woke up screaming. We thought that he either had a nightmare or his teeth were really bugging him. After an hour of trying to get him back down to bed we decided that if it was his teeth that maybe we should give him something for it. Andrew went to get him some medicine and I decided to change his diaper. He had made a #2 which we had no idea (its not like him to do that at night) and his poor little bum was red and raw. Everytime I took the wipe to it, he screamed! Poor thing!
After a fresh new diaper and a bottle of milk he snuggled in for the night.
I guess you can say that we are all really tired this morning.

What's that?

Wanna know the best way to annoy daddy in the morning?
Yesterday Rylen picked up something new. He points to something and says "what's that?" over and over again and of course I have to do it with him.
So as Andrew was lying in bed this morning all he heard was "what's that? what's that?" for 30minutes straight.
He also tries to say "hot tea" since Im always trying to remind him that my tea is to hot for him to drink.

Do I need a haircut?

Posted by Picasa
On Monday we took Rylen to get his haircut. I had phoned around to a few places to see if they cut babies hair and to my surprise no one had proper seats for children. The last place I phoned said they could cut his hair and managed to get us in at the end of the day. We had our appointment at 4:30pm and when they called us over and she pointed to the chair I was a little confused. I asked if she had a chair for children and she said "No, can he not sit by himself?"
WHAT??!!!!!
He's 11 months old!!!!!!!
What was she thinking?!
She then told us that one of us had to sit with him. Andrew sat down but Rylen started to kick up a fuss and wanted me. I then traded places with Andrew. The hairdresser took out a comb that was sitting in the cleaning solution and gave it to Rylen to play with to try and calm him down. Does she really think that someone would love to have their child put that in their mouth??
She then grabbed the electric razor (which you do not use on babies) and started to try and shave his hair.
Rylen freaked!!!
This nightmare lasted all of 10 minutes. Rylen was in tears and his hair was butchered! To top it off, she wasn't very friendly to him, my camera's batteries died so I could even get one picture and the whole thing cost $12.
The next day I had to get out the scissors and try to fix his lop-sided hairdo.

Bedding sets ideas

Just some ideas for bedding. This one is organic fabric with a simple/modern design but is it kind of boring?

Cute monster bedding (something different).
Ikea bedding set which is cheap and cute but they dont ship bedding. We would have to get someone to pick it up for us and ship it to us.
Another Ikea bedding set which is very cute but its white!!!! There is no way it would ever stay white, what were they thinking when they made this?!! Its to bad it didnt come in another colour otherwise we would get this one.

More bedroom ideas

I really like the brown stripes on the green walls but I find this more grown up. Maybe we will use idea this for our bedroom!

They painted behind the shelving which could be an idea to do in Rylen's closet just to add some more colour. Of course I would have to take the shelving all apart which would be another big job!

I like the lanterns in the corner!

A saying that I would love to put on one of his walls "I can change the world".

Paint colours/ideas

This was my original idea (something along these lines). I really like the green in Rylens room but since I painted it while I was pregnant and in the dark (there was no lighting in there at the time) it needs to be re-done. If we dont go with the same green or maybe a lighter version we might go with a blue. My plan was to get wall decals in the circles and put them on a feature wall like this picture as well as have the feature wall a different colour from the rest of the walls.

Another version but instead of circles on the feature wall they have done squares.

My mom likes this one with the blue on the top and green on the bottom.

I also like the green with the brown feature wall.
