We left on Tuesday and I must say, it was NOT a fun plane ride!! The first flight was almost 2hrs and Rylen had no intention on sitting in his seat like a good boy. Even his movie Dora wasn't keeping him occupied. I had to deal with a kicking and screaming child for most of the flight. The next plane ride was only 15minutes and he was a little fussing in the beginning but seemed to settle down for the rest of the flight. I kept telling myself over and over again that I was never going to do this again but I'm ready to make another visit in 6-8months!!
We arrived in Nanaimo around 2pm and had Grandma Liz pick us up. After 1.5hrs of driving we were greeted by Papa Rick, Auntie Karen, Uncle Chuck, Elise and Joseph. What a crazy house that was for the next few days! Its not easy trying to get 5 adults and 3 little kids out the door at the same time. After 3 wonderful days of visiting with them they had to fly back to Yellowknife so Grandma Liz, Rylen and I drove down to Pender Island where we stayed with Auntie Andrea, Uncle Tye, Jake, Toryn and Jonah for the weekend. It was a really nice relaxing mini get-away.
We arrived back to Courtenay on Monday only to notice that Rylen wasn't feeling well. I knew he was acting a little different when we first arrived but I was thinking that he was tired and overwhelmed. By Friday morning I noticed that Rylen's ear was all crusted over and we made the decision to take him to the walk-in clinic. We found out that Rylen had an ear infection and a fever, poor little guy!! But we were all amazed what good spirits he was in the entire time.
We spent the rest of our vacation taking it easy and going on nice little walks outside since the weather was beautiful.
A few extra little things about Rylen...
-He has a new best friend...Papa Rick. They became the best of buddies!! Rylen would follow Papa all over the house and always seemed to have nice long chats together. One night I was rocking Rylen to sleep in the chair and he was fussing and crying and for some reason I couldn't calm him down. Rylen then pushed me away, gone down off the chair, grabbed his blanket and walked over to Papa and put up him arms. He then snuggled up to Papa's chest and fell fast asleep. WHAT??? He has never done this before!!! I must say though, it brought tears to me eyes!
-I was sitting with Rylen in the chair and Papa was being silly by making faces and weird sounds. Rylen sat up, pointed a finger at him and said in a very clear voice "STOP IT!" We got a good chuckle from that!
-Rylen became Mr. Chatter Box! Whether it was on his play phone or just talking to us this kid doesn't stop talking!! And the funniest part of it is that he has these amazing hand gestures to go with it.
-He learnt how to jump which is quite funny to watch.
-If he wasn't talking, he was dancing and if he wasn't dancing, he was jumping or singing. He is quite the entertainer!!!
