Thanks Grandma & Grandpa B

Rylen was all to excited to open a parcel that came in the mail today. Lots of goodies in this one but as you can see he has a thing for books right now.

Where it all begins!

Why do men feel the need to read in the washroom? Well it all started when they were a baby. Maybe its in the genes!

Sleepless in Terrace

Quick little update...
It's late...REALLY late and I finally got Rylen down for the night (hopefully). He was sick last week from a cold and this week has been a week of no sleep. Every time we put him is his crib he wakes up crying but as soon as we pick him up, back to sleep he goes. He then has been waking up every couple of hours wide eyed and ready to play. Personally I'm not up to playing at 4:00 in the morning!
I'm really tired and I have no idea why I'm on here but I better go to bed while I still can.
Good night!

The best dinner ever!!

Rylen and I had some blueberries and mango this afternoon which he couldn't get enough of. Trying to figure out what we could have for dinner we came up with blueberry pancakes. What a hit!! This was the first time that he was feeding himself and he's also getting the hang of the whole chewing sensation.

Homemade baby food

You know you're a mom when you are licking the food off of the spoon from feeding your little one. But not just any baby food, the store bought kind. In all honesty some of it doesn't taste that bad (banana's, sweet potato, pears etc..). I don't think I would ever try the mixed versions with meat, personally it seems a little gross.
Well since Rylen is trying out new foods everyday I thought that I would attempt to make my own baby food. Knowing that I never have any time to myself to clean or cook I put Rylen in his jumper and turned on Baby Einstein. I had 20 minutes of freedom!
Today I made chicken soup (mind you I have never made chicken soup before in my life). A pot of water, diced chicken, celery, carrots, potatoes, peppers (red, orange &yellow) and a sprinkle of seasoning. I swear I ate more then Rylen!! It was quite delicious and Rylen seemed to love it since he ate every bite.
Feeling really good about what I accomplished I decided to try out another one. A pot of water, sweet potato, peas and carrots with seasoning. Even that one I would eat.
Both chunky soups I dished up in ice cube trays and in the freezer they went. Once frozen I popped them out and put them into a freezer bag. Any time I need one I simple take out a cube.
How easy could that be?!
Tomorrow I will start doing up some fruit dishes.
If anyone has some great simple recipes to share I would love to have them.

Melt my heart

We don't get to see much of Andrew these day with him working such long hours but we try to make the most of it. I asked Rylen where his Daddy was the other day and he stopped what he was doing and looked directly at the front door. Andrew said that it felt good to know that Rylen knew what the word "daddy" meant.
So last night I was trying to put Rylen to bed and after reading 4 books (5 times each I might add) Andrew came home from work. As soon as he walked into the room Rylen put on his biggest smile and got all excited (which he does every time he sees Andrew). He then leaned forward and reached out his arms towards Andrew as if he wanted to be lifted up. It was such a simple but beautiful moment that melted our hearts.

Ummm, tastes good

Look Mom, I can do it all by myself

Today we thought we would try out some more solid food. Rylen got to try roasted potatoes and peppers (red&orange), and fruit salad with a little banana puree mixed in. As you can see we had quite the mess and I'm pretty sure Rylen didn't get very much in his mouth but he had fun playing around with it and mussing it between his fingers.
Bath time followed for easy clean up and then off to bed for a nap.
